Description

Welcome to #PetrichorVIII,

Petrichor was established twenty years ago after the Firsts warred over the fate of the world. Petrichor is a fully self-sustaining city, boosting such features as a fully enclosed dome, water purification plant, multiple greenhouses, food processing facilities, a public transportation system that renders private transport unnecessary and a heavy private military presence.

The Regent welcomes all visitors into the city, may you find peace and understanding here.

** Though the city was established twenty years ago, it only opened for residency fifteen years ago, as it took some time to build.

>>>||Borderlands

    Entering Petrichor
      Petrichor has a single civilian entrance at its southernmost point. All those entering, regardless of whether they are a citizen of Petrichor, must present ID and be approved in order to continue on a shuttle into the city. Non-Citizens must pay a fee when entering the city.

    Exiting Petrichor
      Petrichor has a single exit located on the westernmost side of the city. All who enter the city as guests must exit the city after their pass has expired.

    Military Zone
      The "military zone" is the striped area located on the map. Trespassers will be shot on sight. “No Trespassing” signs clearly mark the area, they are located every few yards.

    Settlement
      There is a settlement located outside of Petrichor, it was formed during the city’s early years as a temporary home to workers building the city. It was never meant to be a permanent township; however, due to Petrichor’s low acceptance rate, people crowded the settlement while awaiting entrance into the city. While there are benefits to living so close to the city, they are few and far between.

      While the people living inside the settlement are provided with minor protection from outside threats, they are not provided with regular policing. Electricity, despite being extremely expensive, is offered to those who live in the settlement. Factories outside the city offer workers jobs, and though they are paid a small amount for their labor, they are at the very least, paid.

>>>|| City Information

    Dome
      Petrichor is encased in a large dome that stretches over the entire city. The dome has many features, including a ventilation system that filters and purifies all air entering the city. It also protects the city from acid rain and other harmful weather effects.

      The dome is capable of producing artificial rain through a series of sprinkler systems attached to the roof, which turn on during scheduled rainy days.

    The City of Petrichor:
    City Center
      Petrichor’s design was created with its dome in mind.

      At the exact center of the city, a lone skyscraper stretches to the top of the dome. It is the symbol of Petrichor’s government and is home to the Regent. All military functions are completed within the building and it also acts as the control center for all aspects of the city. Aside from the lobby, all floors of the government building are inaccessible to civilians without proper clearance. Two private military exit roads stretch from the government building to the edge of Petrichor to provide direct access the borderlands. No civilian has access to either of these roads or exits.

      A small park stretches around the government building at the heart of the city’s center. It houses statues, greenery, fountains and small flower gardens. It is accessible to anyone inside the city at any time of the day or night. Beyond the city’s center are tall, extravagant buildings, shops, museums, the main hospital, University, and a vast collection of rooftop gardens. Here, the housing is expensive and the cost of living is high, affordable only to the richest of Petrichor.

    Please Note:
      There are medical branches, schools, and other such facilities located throughout every area of Petrichor to keep one facility from becoming overcrowded. However, Petrichor only has ONE University. To enter it, one must be exceptional at what they do or pay their way through privately.

    City: Middle Rings

      These are the largest residential areas within the city, housing the majority of Petrichor's citizens. There is a secondary hospital within this area, multiple medical branches, multiple primary schools and a large number of shops to cater to the needs of the citizens. The buildings in these areas are tall and practical to meet the requirements of a larger population density.

    City: Outer Ring

      This final circle of the city possesses no tall buildings, as the dome reaches its edge. Shorter buildings, government buildings, the luxury quarter, and various poorer housing options exist in this ring.

      Water, food, air pollution control centers, factories within the city-- all exist in this outer ring. The Luxury quarter is also located here, the luxury quarter houses an amusement park, a large park that includes wooded areas, lakes, and ponds. It also houses a very large, underground shopping district.

    Ghetto (Outer Ring)
      The ghetto isn’t often spoke of inside Petrichor. It is located a distance away from the Luxury Quarter in the outer ring of the city and is the poorest area of Petrichor. It is strictly contained within a single area - no other area is allowed to be so poorly maintained. The citizens who live here struggle to maintain just enough of their bare necessities to keep from being ejected from the city.

      Note that despite the poor conditions of the ghetto, it is still far better than what is found in the borderlands and beyond.

>>>||Other Information

    Housing
      All housing needs are assessed by the government before being assigned. In order to receive housing, you must first apply to become a citizen of the city. Once your application is approved, housing is assigned based on wealth, political influence, and family size. If you commit a crime inside Petrichor, you may be relocated to different housing. (Or even removed from the city)

    Birth and Petrichor
      Because Petrichor has limited space, new additions to the city are tightly monitored. This includes the birth of children.

      In order to legally have a child, you must first apply with the government. You will not be allowed to have a child without the minimum required income, multiple tests, and a down payment before the child’s birth to cover any future hospital expenses, educational fees, etc. Should you be denied your request and still have a child, you will be charged double the tax or expelled from the city.

    Grave Pit
      The locals know this area as the "Grave Pit" simply because it is a vast amount of area covered only in grave markers. Countless men and woman are buried there. These markers all sit closely together, surrounding a decrepit old church that is slowly crumbling in on itself. it is a very graphic reminder of the poor state of the world, and most people avoid this area all together.

    The River
      The river that runs between the military zone and settlement is polluted, has a swift current, and often floods. The locals call it the "River Styx," as this river has caused many an untimely death.

      Where the wrathful and sullen are punished by being drowned in the muddy waters for eternity, never to know peace again.
